Aluminium Window Repairs in Perth
Pro Glazier Perth repairs aluminium windows and sliding doors across the Perth metro. Most of what goes wrong is hardware rather than the window itself: a roller collapses, a stay gives up, a lock stops throwing, or a seal goes hard and lets the weather in.
Those are repairs, not replacements. We come out, work out what has actually failed, and fix the part that failed.

When the Window Is Fine and the Hardware Is Not
An aluminium window that will not slide, will not stay open or will not lock is usually a hardware problem. The frame is sound, the glass is sound, and one small part underneath has worn out.
Perth is hard on that hardware. Salt air, fine sand and years of sun take out rollers, stays and seals long before the frame itself is finished.

The Three Repairs We Do Most
Most call-outs land in one of three buckets. Any of them can be fixed without touching the rest of the window.
01Rollers & Tracks
Sliding windows and doors that stick, grind or jump off the track. We replace the rollers, clean or repair the track, and reset the door so it runs under its own weight again.
02Stays, Locks & Handles
Awning windows that will not hold open, locks that no longer throw, snapped handles and keepers that miss. We match the hardware and refit it so the window works and secures properly.
03Seals & Frames
Hard, shrunken or missing weather seals that let draughts, dust and water in, and frame sections that have corroded or pitted. We reseal, and repair or replace the affected section.
If a pane is cracked but the frame is sound, that is a re-glaze rather than a new window. We cut the glass to suit and glaze it to AS 1288.
The Qualified Difference
Glazing is not a licensed trade in WA, so anyone can have a crack at it, and plenty turn up with no ticket at all. We turn up with the lot, 15 years on the tools and every job glazed to Australian Standard AS 1288.

Sliding Doors That Stick or Jump the Track

Rollers
Reset & running
A sliding door that needs two hands is the most common repair we get called to. The rollers have flattened or seized, so the door is dragging on the track instead of rolling along it.
Left long enough, the dragging chews out the track, and then it is two repairs instead of one. A door that has started jumping the track is already at that stage.
What Usually Causes It
- Rollers worn flat, seized or collapsed
- Sand and grit packed into the track
- A track bent or flattened by a dragging door
- The door dropped out of square in its frame
- Bottom guides or keeps worn out
Sliding door repairs are one of our regular jobs right through the northern suburbs, including Joondalup and the coastal corridor, where salt air shortens roller life.
Fix the Track, Not Just the Rollers
New rollers in a damaged track will feel better for a while and then go the same way. We check the track condition at the same time and tell you if it needs repairing or replacing, so the fix holds.

Repair or Replace: The Honest Call
Not every aluminium window is worth repairing, and not every one needs replacing. The frame is what decides it.
Worth repairing
- Frame straight, sound and not corroded through
- Hardware worn out but still available to match
- Glass intact, or cracked in a sound frame
- Seals perished but the channel is in good shape
- One or two windows in an otherwise good set
Better to replace
- Frame corroded through or badly pitted
- Sections bent or twisted out of square
- Obsolete hardware with nothing to match it to
- Water getting in through the frame itself, not the seal
- Whole-house upgrade for comfort or noise
If replacement is the better call, we fabricate and fit the new ones too, so you get the same answer either way: aluminium windows and doors in Perth.

How an Aluminium Repair Runs
Repairs are diagnosed on site, because the failed part is rarely the part you notice. Here is how we work through one.
Diagnose the Actual Fault
A door that sticks might be rollers, track, packing or a dropped sash. We check all of it before quoting, so you are not paying for rollers when the track is the problem.
Match the Hardware
Aluminium systems vary by manufacturer and era, so rollers, stays and locks have to match the section. We identify the system and fit hardware that suits it.
Repair the Track and Channel
Worn track, packed grit and damaged channel get dealt with at the same visit. Fixing the surface the hardware runs on is what makes the repair last.
Reseal Where Needed
Perished weather seals and brush seals are replaced so the window keeps dust, draughts and rain out once it moves properly again.
Re-Glaze if the Pane Is Gone
A cracked pane in a sound frame is cut to size and glazed to AS 1288, with safety glass used wherever the standard calls for it.
Test It Before We Leave
The window or door is cycled, locked and unlocked, and adjusted until it runs and secures the way it should.
Where a part has to be ordered in, we make the window secure and weathertight in the meantime and come back to finish.
Measured Right. Cut Right. Glazed Right.
Measured Right
On-site laser measure to a 2-3mm tolerance, and the right glass picked for the job and the standard, not guesswork.
Cut Right
Float, toughened or laminated, cut to size with polished edges. We carry stock sheets so most repairs are done on the spot.
Glazed Right
Installed clean, sealed properly and made safe. Glazed to AS 1288, signed off and tidied up before we leave.

Questions About Window & Door Repairs
Can't see yours? Call us and we will give you a straight answer, not a sales pitch.

My sliding door is really hard to open. Is that a roller problem?
Usually, yes. When rollers wear flat or seize, the door drags on the track instead of rolling, which is what makes it heavy. We check the track at the same time, because a dragging door damages the track and new rollers on a chewed-out track will not last.
Can you repair the window, or do I have to replace the whole thing?
Most of the time it can be repaired. If the frame is straight and sound and the problem is hardware, seals or a cracked pane, a repair is the sensible fix. We will tell you honestly if the frame is corroded or twisted to the point where replacing is the better spend.
Do you repair aluminium window frames, or only the hardware?
Both. Hardware is the bulk of the work, but we also deal with corroded and pitted sections, damaged tracks and sashes that have dropped out of square. Whether a corroded section is repaired or replaced depends on how far it has gone, which we assess on site.
My window has a cracked pane but the frame is fine. What happens?
That is a re-glaze. We measure the opening, cut the replacement pane and glaze it back into the existing frame to AS 1288, using safety glass wherever the standard requires it. There is no need to replace a sound frame over a broken pane.
Can you match old hardware on windows fitted years ago?
Often, yes. Aluminium systems vary by manufacturer and era, so we identify the section and fit hardware that suits it. Where a part is genuinely obsolete, we will say so and explain the options rather than forcing something that does not fit.
Do you cover the northern suburbs like Joondalup?
Yes, we repair aluminium windows and sliding doors right across the Perth metro, including Joondalup and the northern coastal suburbs. Salt air is hard on rollers and hardware out that way, so it is regular work for us.
Why do my windows let in dust and draughts even when they are shut?
That is normally the weather seals. Aluminium window seals go hard, shrink and pull away with age and sun exposure, and once they do the window closes without actually sealing. Replacing the seals is a straightforward repair.
Will a repair fix a door that keeps jumping off its track?
Yes, but the track has to be part of the fix. A door jumps when the rollers, the track or both are worn enough that the door is no longer held in its run. We repair or replace the track and fit new rollers so it stays where it belongs.
