Barrier standard
Anything fencing water has to meet AS 1926, which sets the heights, the gap sizes, the non-climb zone and the gate and latch rules. The glass itself has to meet AS 1288, which covers grade, thickness and where safety glass is required.

Does commercial glass pool fencing have to meet the same standard as a home pool?
Yes. Any barrier around a swimming pool has to meet AS 1926, whether it is a backyard, a hotel deck or a council pool. The heights, gaps, non-climb zone and gate rules all apply, and commercial sites are inspected more often.
Can you fence a courtyard or alfresco area that has no pool?
Yes. Courtyards, alfresco edges, terraces and balcony barriers are common commercial work. AS 1926 is about barriers around water, so a dry courtyard is set out to the barrier and glass requirements instead, which we work through on the measure.
We failed an inspection. Can you fix the existing fence instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. A lot of failures come down to the gate, the latch height, a gap at the base or a climbable object too close to the fence. We will look at what the inspector flagged and quote the fix, and only recommend replacing panels if they are the actual problem.
How thick is the glass on a commercial fence?
Frameless barrier panels are typically 12mm toughened, and we heat-soak them. The final specification depends on the span, the fixing and the exposure, which we confirm when we measure.
Will the hardware survive a chlorinated pool deck near the coast?
The hardware we fit is marine grade, which is the point. Standard fittings pit and stain quickly when they get salt air and pool chemicals together, and on a public site that looks neglected long before it fails.
